Authored by Luísa Tiago de Oliveira, the book Student Activism at IST (1945–1980) offers an in-depth analysis of the student movement at the Instituto Superior Técnico over a span of 35 years, from the post-World War II period to the years following the April Revolution. The book examines the organization, practices, and forms of student mobilization, highlighting the role of the IST Student Association in opposing the Estado Novo regime and contributing to the country’s political and social transformations.
Based on rigorous historical research, the work draws on documentary sources, interviews, and testimonies from former student leaders, helping to preserve the memory of academic activism and to understand its impact on the development of democracy in Portugal.
