Launch of "Four characters looking for April" by Luís Reis Torgal

On April 8, Temas e Debates will launch a new book by historian Luís Reis Torgal, a founding member of the 25 April Documentation Centre and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of the 20th Century. The presentation session for Quatro Personagens à procura de Abril will take place at the Casa Municipal de Cultura in Coimbra and will be introduced by Professor Maria Inácia Rezola, president of the Commemorative Commission for the 50th anniversary of 25 April.

Synopsis (text from CEISXX's online site)

"The characters referred to in the title of this book are real people the author came into contact with as a reader, citizen or military officer in the "Metropolis" and in Guinea: Luís de Sttau Monteiro, from the field of literature and also politics; Santos Simões, from politics but also culture; Mário de Oliveira, from religion but also politics; and Carlos Fabião, from the military and political field, whom the author followed on the endless paths of Decolonisation and the building of Democracy.

They are personalities who are sometimes forgotten or only remembered episodically, because they accompanied the victory of April, but were also defeated, in a different way in each case, because of the principles they took on, their character and temperament, circumstances and time."
