Of course, we held up a final carnation in tribute to Celeste Martins Caeiro, who left us on 15 November at the age of 91. The woman who, on 25 April 1974, in a kind gesture of sharing and freedom, made the carnation the symbol and icon of our revolution. That day would have been the anniversary of the "Franjinhas" coffee shop where she worked, which, in the face of the military coup, never happened. She remembered to give the carnations she had with her to the cafeteria's clientele, to the soldiers in the street.
e are sharing a portrait photograph of Celeste Caeiro on 25 April 1984, taken from an article published in Tempo Livre magazine no. 94 April 1999. We've also made available a brief interview with Celeste Caeiro that took place in 1984 on the RDP programme A Liberdade dos Sons. The latter is a sound document digitised from the original reels.
